Brian and I learned something new today. A cup (in cooking) is not a standard measurement. I always thought it was equivalent to 250 ml. Not so. There's an imperial cup and a metric cup. On top of that, there's a Japanese cup.
Brian made pancakes today with his cooking class. The recipe he had called for two cups of milk and two cups of flour (among other things). He thought it looked too runny, so he had to add more and more flour.
When he double checked the ml equivalency online, he discovered that a cup, depending on the country the recipe originates, can range from 200 to 250 ml. That's a big difference.
I think I just found a new excuse for future baking mishaps.

I'm totally using that excuse. Thank you.
