Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival

This past Wednesday was a holiday in Hong Kong. It was the annual Dragon Boat Festival. I read in the paper that this tradition goes back over 2500 years. There were a few venues around Hong Kong and luckily there was one close to where we live.

The weather was not that great so Jill decided to stay home. I headed out for the day and had a good time.

About 6 or 7 boats raced in each heat.

It did pour a few times, but I had a great spot under a bridge right at the finish line, I stayed dry and was able to stand on a railing to get a good view.

The all had dragon figure heads on their boats.

Saturday Workday

Another Saturday at work. Today was graduation photo day and all of the teachers had to come for a big group shot with all of the graduating students. I only have 6 students in my upper class but there were about 100 students from the Chinese kindergarten side of our school so the group shot was quite large. Maybe we'll post it if we get a copy.

Here are a few that I took afterward with my camera.

Here is a nice one of Jill and I. Jill is wearing her new summer uniform (only for special occasions). The male teachers at our school don't have uniforms but I decided to dress up a bit anyway.

My partner, Ms. Lau and I with our graduating students. Notice how happy Nicole is on the right.

Here are all four NET's (Native English Teachers). We all get along great, which is nice.
