Fiji

In case some of you were wondering exactly where Fiji was, I copied these from Google Earth. This picture show's it near Australia and New Zealand. Although it looks close, it's still about 2,000 km away from NZ.

This picture, from another vantage point makes it look like it's in the middle of the South Pacific. It is quite isolated. Perfect!

So far most people who we've told have had no idea where Fiji was. Most Chinese people have never even heard of it. We both think that if we were going to do a destination wedding, we'd like to go somewhere where unique, where we'll have a different story and different experience than others.

We are still finalizing the wedding plans. It's come down to photographers at this point, when we have that information, we will post some pictures of the locations and our wedding date.

Fiji or Bust

I've done it! I finally decided on a location for our wedding. I never would have thought it'd be such a difficult decision. The biggest issue is that we are in HK while everyone we'd want at our wedding is in Canada (as well as a few other random countries, I guess). Our holidays are rigid. Trying to find a time and place that the majority of our loved ones could attend was pretty much impossible unless we waited a couple more years. I'm sure you all know how many times I changed my ideas.... pretty much every two weeks or so.
Finally we decided that if we couldn't have all of our number one loved ones there, we may as well not have anyone there. Besides, with just a few guests, I'd feel like they were invading my honeymoon.

I'd thought of Fiji long ago, but it was always too expensive. Then I found hotels.com. Forgive me if I sound like a commercial here, but I think it's great (as long as everything goes according to plan, that is). We've booked 18 nights, 3 resorts, 2 islands, domestic and international flights. Now I'm just trying to decide which of our resorts to have the wedding at. Legal weddings are easy in Fiji. A passport and birth certificate are all we'll need, and we can have a ceremony within 3 days of arrival.

Oh, and FYI, Brian just handed over his credit card and agreed to everything I suggested. He's pretty excited about it too, though.
