Kung Hai Fat Choy

Happy Chinese New Year! Our last day of work was today. It was a busy couple of weeks since our last vacation and we are desperately in need of another. Luckily it's only 10 weeks after this one til our next one at Easter.

It was a particularly hard month considering one of our coworkers just decided one day that he'd stop coming to work. That was the beginning of December actually. He officially quit today but we hadn't really seen him the last 2 months. He was kind of useless when he was there, so it's for the best that he's gone. The two of us have been the ones stuck with covering his classes.

We're heading to Tokyo first thing tomorrow morning to spend a few days with Kathy and Carole. I heard there are some sumo wrestling tickets awaiting us.......there's nothing better than seeing two morbidly obese gentlemen pushing each other around a ring of sand in their diapers.

When leaving our school today we ran into some of my students and their parents. Being well versed in Chinese lingo, we greeted them with a Kung Hai Fat Choy (Happy Chinese New Year). They replied with something we didn't recognize and after asking what it meant they said, "1 year, 1 baby". I guess it's a common thing to say to newly married people. We just laughed.

Anyway, there will be more to write about next week after we experience the weird and one of a kind Tokyo.
